Nancy Boyle is a veteran classroom teacher who has presented at several national and regional conferences. Nancy was selected by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) as part of the 2011-2012 Teachers of the Future Program. Mrs. Boyle has served in various roles at Cushing and teaches several courses in the English Department. She serves in Cushing’s Institute for 21st Century Leadership as the coordinator of the 21c curriculum. Founded in 2007, the Institute integrates all academic departments, student life and athletics, and drives every aspect of the school’s curriculum. Through its collaborations and partnerships with institutions like University of Oxford, Singularity University and NASA, the Institute for 21st Century Leadership creates a curriculum that provides students with live data streaming, access to cutting edge scholarly research, unique programming and classroom resources, and the experiential opportunities students need to be successful and fully informed leaders for the 21st century. Mrs. Boyle has spoken a number of times on the issue of learning in the 21st century to national audiences. She teaches in Cushing’s English department and has served in various roles at Cushing including department head, coach, international student advisor, dean of students and college counselor. She is currently president of the school’s Cum Laude Society, faculty advisor to the Young Scholar Program, editor of the literary magazine and Coordinator of 21 Century Curriculum. Nancy attended SUNY Albany, earning her B.S. in Linguistics and Cognitive Science and M.A. in education. She coordinated the student teaching program at SUNY, taught in public schools and was a master teacher of adult language classes at SUNY prior to joining Cushing Academy.
